about
THE BAR
Established in 2014 in the heart of East London, Fontaine’s bar has been the home of many exclusive events, cabaret shows, live swing music and vintage film nights for over 10 years. Fontaine’s has been featured in Time Out through to Home & Garden, played stage to fashion campaigns from Hood London to LK Bennett, and if we can go on, the backdrop to music videos and commercials.
We have been proud to play host to London’s greatest cabaret and burlesque performers and their shows over the years, Cabaret vs Cancer and London’s longest running cabaret show The Double R Club’s sister shows to Drags finest Love Potion. Our resident ‘King of Kitsch’ Graham Russell has been hosting his monthly film clubs devoted to ‘Bad Movies We Love’ Specialising in the Kitsch, the cult and the Queer. Even Ms Fontaine brought back ‘Dirty Shame’ her very own cabaret show dedicated to one of her favourite directors John Waters.
Bar owner Ruby Fontaine started her career as an actress and cabaret performer and has worked in some of the best restaurants and bars from London to New York.
Ruby grew up immersed in 1940s and 1950s fashion and film; the inspiration for Fontaine’s and her love for event planning and themed parties. From Great Gatsby, Old Hollywood glamour and 1940s Circus to Studio 54 and everything in between.
Having spent 15 years in the spotlight herself, before transitioning into the world of hospitality and founding Fontaine’s, Ruby’s plethora of knowledge and experience makes her your go-to party and events planner. From set design, theatrical staging to entertainment and beyond, she knows exactly how to make you sparkle and your event a show stopper.
